City Groups are intentional gatherings throughout the city, made up of people who are seeking to mature in Christ, with others.

We believe City Groups are a vital instrument in the life of the church because groups meet in neighborhoods all around Chattanooga to explore scripture…to serve at church and throughout the city…to create safe spaces for being known and knowing others…to pray for each other…and to have fun! As we follow Jesus in community, the Holy Spirit transforms us.

City Groups give the opportunity to get to know people beyond what is possible when we gather for worship on Sundays. They also have a different rhythm than what is offered in Bible studies. We seek to make space for questions and curiosity as we grow in understanding the Bible. And we strive to create a conducive environment for spiritual growth by sharing life, sharing the Word, and sharing in prayer.

Each group may look a little different, based on seasons in life, personalities, times for meeting, and individual and group needs. But each group will have rhythms that include time to get to know each other and have fun, time for prayer and exploring God’s Word, and opportunities to serve.

A place where God's grace transforms us as we live in community & love our city

Previously in my experiences at church, as someone who is not a Christian, I have felt left out, ostracized, ignored and frankly looked down upon. That, for me, has finally changed. This is such a welcome change of pace and mindset. Never have I been so welcome by such a diverse group of people. New friends, knowledgeable teachers WHO ADMIT they don’t know it all but are willing to help and grow with you, great worship (music), and above all a judgement free place to let down the walls we all put up. No one is perfect (me least of all) and it’s made clear weekly that everyone is welcome and perfection need not apply at Restoration. I never grew up in the church and, as such, have had very little basis to build my beliefs upon. I have learned so much in a short time at Restoration. What I have learned most of all, is how a church should feel, how a community should be inclusive in its caring of everyone, rather than dismissive of non believers and the imperfect. I originally went to church to appease my wife but now we go because we all enjoy the fellowship and camaraderie of an inclusive community like restoration.
